This wearable codex, titled Sinann, is made from scrap linen and painted entirely with plant-based dyes and pigments sourced from plants along the River Shannon. It represents a curated hypothesis of the data collected—materials, memories, facts, and emotions gathered from the river’s banks. Designed to fold out like a map and be worn, the piece symbolizes an attempt to reconnect with natural spaces.

Inspired by the Shannon as a source of knowledge, Róisín seeks to bridge the gap between humanity and the earth. The work closely reflects the research methods employed, mirroring the process of collecting and displaying information. Rooted in the tradition of ancient Irish codices, which were never fully complete and continuously added to over generations, this piece honours the preservation of knowledge about the land. It highlights the belief that everything essential for life can be carried on one’s back—and that understanding nature transforms wilderness into something familiar and known.
