Mushroom Lenses explores the relationship between nature and preservation, focusing on mushrooms plucked from areas around Limerick City by the River Shannon. The mushrooms were encased in resin, frozen in time, and returned to the same locations they were harvested from. Through this process, it became clear that by preserving them in resin, the mushrooms were severed from their original environment. No longer able to interact with the living ecosystem, they were trapped in a static state while the environment continued to evolve highlighting the inherent disconnect that occurs when objects are removed from their natural context for the sake of preservation, as the world around them moves on.
